After Hours is the debut solo-album of the blues piano master Pinetop Perkins. He is backed by the New York-based blues
band, Little Mike and the Tornadoes, using the classic Chicago blues approach. Released in 1988 by Blind Pig Records,
the album, produced by Edward Chmelewski and Jerry Del Giudice, features 12 songs, including blues standards and
original material. The album was recorded in New York City at Chelsea Sound by Natasha Turner.

  Easy-grooving blues and boogie is backed by the competent New York
City-based blues band Little Mike and the Tornadoes. Though Perkins followed Otis Spann as the piano player in the Muddy
Waters band, these are the first domestically available recordings under his own name.

  Granted his own session at long last, the former Muddy Waters and Legendary Blues Band pianist
rehashes staples from the repertoires of Waters, Memphis Slim, and Robert Nighthawk with ebullient naturalness that is
paramount to his charm. He never feels his keyboard boogie dances or functional singing as cliches, even when New
